Choosing where and what to study post 16 is both important and exciting. It is a choice that will not only shape the next two years but could influence the decisions you make later in life.

Sigma Sixth Tendring is a college which supports a journey of self-discovery and prepares students for the next stage of their life. Our students consistently achieve excellent results on our A Level and Applied courses, and progress to their first-choice universities or employers with ease.

Our vision is to create opportunities within and beyond the curriculum to enable students to become a well-rounded, confident, responsible and successful person and to achieve your full potential both academically and personally.

Building on the traditions and academic success of Clacton County High School’s Sixth Form, Sigma Sixth Tendring formed in September 2020, as part of The Sigma Trust’s post-16 offer for students in Tendring and beyond, matching the needs of the young people living in the community.

At Sigma Sixth you will have a chance to study the subjects that you are passionate about, whilst developing as a person and deciding your future pathway. You will discover new opportunities, new responsibilities and new friendships. You will develop your independence and learn who you really are. Our students are individuals with a range of aspirations but all use their time here to nurture their potential and move closer to their ambitions.

Sigma Sixth Tendring offers a range of A Level and Applied courses, including T-Levels. Students joining the college follow 3 A Level courses or equivalent, which they study for two years. In addition to the excellent in-house provision, the college also offers some students the chance to study at Essex University as part of the VI6 partnership; a unique collaboration between a selective number of local sixth form providers.

Our purpose built college has newly renovated classrooms and science labs; first class performance areas; a four-court sports hall and astro-turf pitches; well-equipped technology workshops; new ICT provision; modern social spaces and an on-site café.

There is an expectation for students to work hard and get involved in enrichment activities, to develop their sense of self, to explore opportunities for future career pathways, leaving Sigma Sixth Tendring with a sense of achievement. Staff will help, advise and support, but at the end of the day, it is an individual's hard work, commitment and enthusiasm that will define their success.

Some of our students aspire to study sciences or law and apply to Russell Group universities. Others want to continue their studies at specialist universities for arts, music or technology. Some will be considering the world of work, or possibly a gap year before taking a degree course. Whatever path our students choose after Sigma Sixth Tendring, staff are here to ensure that they make the most of the opportunities available to help them succeed. Our pastoral care is second-to-none and whether a student decides on employment, an apprenticeship, or a place at university, our experienced staff can help them achieve their goals.

The success of our students and our high-quality provision and support has made us an increasingly popular choice for students. I hope that you too will be excited by what you learn about us and complete an application to join our community.
