Wedesday 2nd September 2026

The first day at CCHS for our new year 7 students will serve as an additional induction to the school.
Year 7 will be the only year group present in school on this day.

The school gates are open from 8.15am

Students can arrive or leave by either of the school entrances - the main Walton Road entrance or the Leisure Centre entrance (at the top of the car park by the Cricket Club).

Parents should not enter the school site when dropping off or collecting their child.
Please ensure that you pre-arrange a meeting point outside of the school grounds, where you will meet your child at the end of school.

Students should arrive at school by 8.40am – meet on the outside basketball courts ready for a 8.45am start; exactly as on their Year 7 Induction Day. Staff will direct students to where they need to go.

Please remember that students need to bring a school bag containing: a reading book, a pencil case with a selection of pens and pencils, a drinking bottle and a packed lunch (if required).

If you intend for your child to purchase food at Clouds Restaurant or our Snack Counter, please ensure that their ArborPay 'Dinners' account has funds for them to spend. Those entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) have their account pre-loaded with £3 a day (parents will not see this amount on their ArborPay accounts although can add to their allowance by adding funds to their ArborPay 'Dinners' account). Please remember that parents need to re-apply for their child's FSM entitlement; ensure apply early to allow plenty of time for your application to be processed. - see our 'Parent Information' page.

We will take formal photographs on the first day.

School will finish at 3.10pm

Why am I in a different form to my friends?

Form time only lasts for 20 minutes each morning. The rest of the day you will learn with different students in many of your lessons. When you join secondary school, it is an ideal time to enlarge your friendship group - you will make new friends very quickly.

How are the form groups decided?

We have over 310 new Year 7 students to place into form groups. Year 7 is split, roughly in half, into two teaching bands - X-Band and Y-Band. We have six form groups in X-Band and six form groups in Y-Band. Students are assigned one of the twelve mixed ability form groups.

How do I pay for a school dinner or school trip?

The school is cashless. All students have a ArborPay account where money for meals, drinks and school trips or events is added by parents and carers.
Students receive their own 'payment' card, linked to their account, and is scanned at the tills in the Clouds Refrectory to pay for any meals or refreshments.

What are the rules on mobile phone?

Not Seen - Not Heard
You are welcome to come to and from school with your mobile phone. Once you are on the school site mobile phones are to be switched off and out of sight please. This applies throughout the whole day including social times. Consequences follow if this requirement is not followed.

How will I find my way around school?

You will have a tour of the school on your induction day in June. We’ll also remind you on your the first day in September. It won’t take long to work out where things are.
As a rule single-digit room numbers are on the ground floor and double-digit numbers are on the first floor; A-Block is different with all the rooms on the ground floor.
The 'Joining Year 7 Student Guide' includes a map of the school, including room numbers. This will be issued during the Induction Day on 25th June.
