BTEC Applied L3 Sport
This is a 10-hour per week option and is equivalent to 2 A-Levels, making it a perfect fit for those students who are passionate about sport and fitness. The course covers 10 units across a 2-year course, which incorporates practical and theoretical elements in a range of different topic areas, aimed to stretch each candidate and to look at sport in a more independent and analytical way.
Students should expect assignments on a regular basis and it is not unusual to have two to three, due per month. Although the majority of the course is assessed through coursework, there is an exam element and externally assessed piece of coursework.
The sports and health industry continues to grow and there are many careers available to those with a passion for sport. Successful students can also look at applying for university degrees which could typically include BSc Sport and Exercise Science courses.
Assessment in the course: 6 internally assessed units and 3 externally assessed units.
Students need to have achieved a minimum of 4 grades 4-9 incl. English and Maths as well as a 4 or equivalent in a Sport related subject.
