BTEC Applied L3 in Performing Arts – Dance
Students hoping to pursue a career within the performing arts industry should consider the Applied National in Performing Arts: Dance. An ideal course to complement other studies enabling students to develop a range of skills desirable with future employers and further education establishments including creative thinking, problem-solving, communicating, organising and working effectively within a team.
The course is delivered through a variety of practical classes looking at technique and choreography sessions and students work towards a termly performance. There is one theory session per week, to watch and analyse professional work and develop essay-writing skills.
Assessment in the course:
No final written exam, however, there are practical controlled assessments throughout the course and an essay-writing task completed under controlled conditions and marked externally by the exam board. Evidence to support practical work is expected through written coursework including reflective journals, skill development trackers, presenting and written portfolios.
Students need to have achieved a minimum of 4 grades 4-9 incl. English and Maths.
