This has been a very exciting period for the PE team. We have had a number of successes and events that the PE team are extremely proud of.

Once again, we delivered an outstanding set of results from last year’s BTEC level 2 students. The students achieved 94% pass or better on the BTEC Sport course, with over 50% of students achieving a Distinction or Distinction*. This meant that 159 students left KS4 with a qualification in PE, surpassing last year’s success. Huge credit must go to the students and the staff for their hard work and dedication to achievement. The current Year 11 students now have a tough act to follow their success. Success was also replicated at KS5, where all students left with A – D on A level, and merit or BTEC on the Level 3 BTEC course.

We welcomed a new set of enthusiastic Year 7 students in September, who have already shown a keen interest in sport and PE at the school. In the opening term, we have seen some outstanding potential in PE lessons and numbers at Extra Curricular Clubs are extremely high. Students have been attending football, rugby, netball, climbing, swimming and basketball clubs, although we would always welcome more and more members. Parents are reminded that clubs are completely free and all are welcome. Shortly we will be competing in fixtures against local schools. If parents wish to watch, they are reminded to check in with reception first. Over a hundred Year 7’s also took part in a Colour Run in October to celebrate their first half term in the school, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

On the extra-curricular side, a number of teams experienced Coastal success in the first term. Year 8, 9 and 10 boys, reached the partnership final for football, with both year 9 and 10 teams being crowned partnership champions. The year 8 boys team await their final in January. The year 8 netball team, also made it through to the partnership final, although lost to TTC, and finished runners up. This term we have boys rugby, girls football, and indoor athletic event. Please check the fixtures page or contact the PE office for information.
