GCSE & BTEC PE @ CCHS

Year 10 BTEC Sport Exam 2017 - w/c 27th March
Revision Information HERE

The past two years have seen records broken. Current Year 11 are currently making the final push to achieving some amazing results that could surpass the outcomes of the 2014-15 and 2015-16 cohort. The next six months are vitally important and will determine the outcome of their grade. In the next half term, students will be taking part in a mock exam and should be encouraged to use revision guides, past exam papers and gcsepod to aid their revision. In March students will be undertaking the practical exam. The practical part of the course accounts for 60% of their overall GCSE grade and it is important for the students to obtain as many marks as they possibly can. Students that have been selected for climbing and coaching need to ensure that their logs are complete. Students that have been selected for orienteering will need to attend intervention sessions after school from January onwards.

Students will also need to ensure that they are fully prepared for their practical exams in all of the activities that they are looking to offer, as well as working on their fitness levels. Fitness is essential throughout the practical exam week, as it requires a high level of performance in all of the activities that they are looking to offer. Additionally students should be ensuring that their Analysis of Performance tasks are complete, which requires them to explain and analyse, rules and regulations, analyse an athlete’s performance and explaining how to improve that athlete, as well as showing strong understanding of how to develop an athlete physically (PEP section).

For each of their 4 practical activities and their analysis of performance students will receive a mark out of 10 which makes up their 60% practical.

The theory exam will take place on in the middle of May and makes up the final 40% of their GCSE grade. Students need to be revising regularly to ensure that they are fully prepared for this exam.
