Live Lessons Win Praise

We have now completed three weeks of live lessons and there are just three weeks of the summer term remaining. Thank you to all our students for engaging so enthusiastically with these remote lessons, it is obvious that you are happy to hear your teachers voices again and have teacher led lessons back, be it with a major difference! Thank you also to all of our parents for understanding that it was a new way of delivering lessons for us all; having to utilise the technology and develop a new way of teaching.
Since the start of the live lessons, it has been fantastic and gratifying to hear all of the positive comments that we are receiving from students and parents, on how the live and recorded lessons have rejuvenated students’ home study.
Last week, Sigma CEO, Jeff Brindle, commented that he had been speaking to a parent who was full of praise for the staff at CCHS and how the live lessons had re-energised their child.
Here are a few of the numerous comments from parents:
“I just wanted to say thank you to all the staff that have been providing the live lessons for pupils.”
“The new timetables have made such a difference to our home learning. Our boys are more organised and on top of the work; it has become much more manageable, leading to less stress in the home. The recorded lessons mean that my year 7 is able to work out exactly what is expected of him without needing any help from me, which has really helped me with my work from home.”
“I have been extremely encouraged and impressed by, not only the method of teaching and effort that's has been put into implementing this new way of teaching, but also by the enthusiasm of the teaching staff.”
“Every teacher that has provided live lessons, has been encouraging, understanding and engaging”
“Thank you to everyone for the thought and care that is put into planning the lessons. We have been impressed with the high standard. Our boys have had some interesting and fun lessons set for them.”
Thank you to all our parents for their continued support throughout this unprecedented period.

Harry Potter – Maths Escape Room

Each week we are sharing one of Miss Bartlett’s maths problem solving activities. This week we have Problem 3 of her Harry Potter – Escape Room puzzles as a light-hearted way to get students thinking and problem solving!

Critical Worker Students Art Project

Critical Worker Students Art ProjectRecently, our Critical Worker students, who have been attending school regularly throughout the school’s closure, were tasked with replicating a picture of Sir Tom Moore as part of one of their creative sessions. Art teacher, Miss Dominey, cut an image into 16 pieces and gave each section to a different student to replicate and enlarge. All of the sketches were then assembled to produce a lovely piece of art – well done to them all!

Students Back in School

Over the past few weeks, it has been fantastic to have some students back in school as we reopened for some students, in Years 10 and 12.
Students Back in School
By invitation only, different groups of students are attending school at various times each week, for a 2½-hour session, which covers two subjects. They use a designated entrance and reside in the same classroom, with only the students in their group. The seating layout in each classroom in use has also been altered, to accommodate social distancing measures. Their teachers move rooms to deliver the face–to-face sessions, aimed at reinforcing the work that the students have been covering during their home learning. Although the experience is very different for both students and their teachers, we are all grateful that we can now begin to work towards welcoming more students back after the summer break; there is light at the end of the tunnel – be it a rather long one!
