Year 11 and Year 13 - Considering the Next Step

Next Tuesday, 8th December, Year 11 and Year 13 students, along with parents and carers will have the opportunity to gain valuable information about the options available after next year’s summer exams, by participating in a virtual careers fair. The fair is organised by ‘All About School Leavers’, in association with ‘All About Careers’, and aims to help students explore the opportunities available for apprenticeships and jobs, as well as helping to understand the potential career paths available to school leavers. They provide information on jobs and different levels of apprenticeships following GCSEs, A levels or after leaving university.
Year 11 and Year 13 - Considering the Next StepThe careers fair is delivered each month and next week students can tour the virtual fair between 5.30 to 6.30pm, selecting from one of eight curated sessions detailing apprenticeship possibilities in a variety of industries including: accountancy, transport & logistics, engineering, creative industries, technology, law biopharmaceuticals and consultancy. The sessions are delivered by some very prominent companies and world leaders in their particular field, including: Bentley, Rolls Royce and AstraZeneca.
The December careers fair takes place virtually on Tuesday, 8th December from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

Daily Maths Challenge with the December Maths Calendars

The December Maths Calendars are now available to download from our website. Each month students can access a month’s worth of daily questions to help them improve their maths skills. There are four calendars to choose from, depending upon ability, and students are encouraged to challenge themselves. Lower years can access the Numeracy Calendar and also attempt the Foundation Calendar questions. Older students can download a Crossover Calendar, with intermediate questions to stretch learning from foundation towards the higher level, as well as challenging themselves with the questions contained on the Higher Calendar - Click here to access all the maths challenge calendars.

Year 12 Higher Education Options

The University of Essex is offering parents and carers the opportunity to join them next Tuesday for an interactive session on UK Higher Education opportunities.
As the UCAS deadline for undergraduate applications approaches, they will discuss a range of issues relating to higher education study in the UK in 2021. This will include the changing higher education landscape, the changes implemented as a result of COVID-19, as well as funding and scholarship support.
They will also explore how parents can support their child’s decision making and look at what applicants can expect in the coming months. There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and to gain the information needed for informed decisions. The aim is for parents and carers to feel confident in supporting their child with the next stage of their academic journey. The live session will be repeated at 10am and 5pm on Tuesday 8th December - Click here to book your place.
