CCHS Presentation Evening

CCHS Presentation Evening
Last week, during our annual Awards Evening, we celebrated some of the fantastic achievements of last year’s Year 11 and Year 13 students. Ahead of a number of them starting the next chapter in their life, whether university, apprenticeship or employment, students attended with their parents to celebrate their successes.
CCHS Presentation EveningTrophies were awarded for achievement, in each of our Faculty areas, and to those who had made significant progress, since joining our school. This year, the ‘Old Clactonian’ trophy was presented to Year 12 student Hermione who has fully embraced her time at CCHS and helps inspire younger students through her actions. Hermione has represented the school in virtually every sport and in public speaking competitions, she has sung in concerts, acted in school musicals and, as a sports leader, worked alongside students at Shorefields school – she embodies everything that our PROUD ethos represents and is a fantastic role model. The evening included a musical interlude from talented Year 10 duo, Faith Garner and Richie Choat, who performed an acoustic version of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’. Congratulations to all our award winners, we wish them every success in the next stage of their chosen path.

Open Evening – Thursday 26th Sept
School finishes at 12.55pm

Next Thursday, 26th September is our annual Open Open Evening – Thursday 26th SeptEvening, when we welcome Year 6 students from across the district, along with their parents, to join us to tour the school and enjoy some fun activities throughout the evening from 5.00pm to 7.30pm.

To enable staff to prepare for this special evening, school will finish after Lesson 3 at 12.55pm.
There will be no lunchtime service in Clouds Restaurant that day; students with lunch tickets should use them during morning break instead.

CCHS students should not attend the Open Evening unless they are designated helpers who have handed in their completed Open Evening helper form, signed by a parent.

Good Samaritans Rush to Help

After school last Thursday, a young boy who was playing in the play area next to Clacton Leisure Centre, ran into a gatepost and cut his head open. Three of our Year 7 girls, Tiffany Ball, Leila Bennett and Tayla Beaver, who were close by, ran to the Leisure Centre to fetch help. A first aider was able to treat the boy before calling an ambulance. The boy’s carer was very grateful for the girls’ help in her time of need – well done girls!

Bikeability CourseBikeability Course

Next month, instructors from the Safer Essex Roads Partnership will be running Level 3 Bikeability courses at CCHS on both Friday 4th and Friday 18th October. Applications for places are being taken from Year 7 students; spare places will then be offered to other year groups. Students need to bring their own bike into school on the day of the course, which needs to be roadworthy. Both brakes should be in working order – as per the CCHS Bike Policy - and cyclists need to wear a cycle helmet. See our letters webpage to download the Bikeability information/application letter.
