Holland Library Campaign

One of our Year 9 students was horrified to discover that Essex County Council are planning to close the library in Holland on Sea. After learning about democracy, as one of our British Values in school, Beth felt she needed to exercise her right to campaign. Not one to sit back and let it happen, she set about making known her concerns, and those of other local Holland Library Campaignresidents, and started to collect signatures on a petition to the County Council. Beth widened her campaign to include signatures collected online after mentioning her quest to her Biology teacher, who helped her set up a special petition.
Here is Beth’s plea – “Holland-On-Sea Library is a community hub for our village, and won't be the last library that will be closed down if the Council gets its way. Libraries are an important part of our culture, we cannot lose them. If you go into Holland Library on any given day there is always someone there, whether reading, browsing the internet or going to one of the clubs. There is a Book Club, a Baby Club and many other activities. Many of the visitors are elderly. They would struggle to get to Clacton Library, making their lives a lot more difficult. We are all passionate about our library. Please help us save it!” Please add your support to Beth’s campaign HERE………

Summer 2019 – Year 11 Prom

The Year 11 Prom will take place on Thursday, 20th June. Although our Year 11 students are months away from finishing their GCSE exams next summer, we are aware that bookings need to be made well in advance.
Please also be aware that there is an Exam Contingency Day (in the event of a national disaster) on the 26th June 2019, so we strongly advise that holidays are booked to depart no earlier than the 27th June.

Clouds Restaurant Menu Spring 2019

The start of a new term heralds a new lunchtime menu in our Clouds Restaurant. When we return in January, our catering partners ABM Catering Solutions are launching some new and exciting menus as part of a continued improvement plan. To give students a variety of dishes to choose from they have a three-week rolling lunchtime menu, which sits alongside some of the student's favourite foods that are available on a daily basis at break and lunch.
Their first new menu is now available on our website with the other two revealed at the start of next term.

End of Term Letters

As the term draws to a conclusion, we are posting out some important information to parents and carers regarding some changes we are making to the form group structure in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the New Year. The mailing will also include the termly letter and safeguarding newsletter – copies of these are available on our letters webpage. Please take your time to review this important information.

Netball Season 2018

All of our netball teams have been in action this term in the Coastal Schools League. Here is a quick round up of the season, which concluded a few weeks ago.
Netball Season 2018
The Year 7 team started their first season together with a convincing win against Manningtree, although subsequent fixtures highlighted that there is always more to learn and practice in any team sport.
Netball Season 2018
Our Year 8 team had the most success this season with victories against Harwich and Colne, which gave them a place in the final against Tendring. The girls battled hard against their strong opposition but were unable to reverse their league defeat, finishing as Coastal runners-up.
Netball Season 2018
Our Year 9, 10 and 11 Netball teams had a tough season with fixtures against some strong teams. They all played some fantastic netball and thoroughly enjoyed playing together; their enthusiasm was relentless and their dedication was prevalent, with over sixty girls attending training each week - the older players are always keen to help and assist with developing the younger teams. All of the teams also benefited from the assistance of a number of our sixth form netballers who helped manage, coach and umpire many of the Coastal League netball fixtures this term.
Netball Season 2018
The passion of our talented netballers is unbounded; our Year 7 and Year 8 players are still attending training despite having finished all their matches!
Well done to them all!
